Of late you find industrial style everywhere. You can see it in bars, restaurants, shops, hotels and, of course, homes. You can achieve your industrial style with old industrial furniture, recycled wood floors and, never forget a brick wall.

Obviously if you are lucky enough to live in a loft use in the past for industrial purposes it will be fairly easy to recover the brick walls turning them into one more element of you décor. For those of us who are not so lucky there will always be the virtual visits.

Here we have some samples…

Disfrutadlo.

Here I am again with a wonderful apartment in Stockholm. This time it belongs to the prestigious stylist Joanna Laven. In this place everything is perfect, from the paneled walls, the color shades ranging from white to grey, the wooden floors in all the rooms y the chessboard pattern at the entrance, the mixture of contemporary and 1950’s furniture, the high ceilings and their moldings, the paintings and pictures… Everything is impeccable.

Enjoy!

Fotos

Ps.: One little curiosity, here is Joana’s former apartment, so you could see what she keep from it and how they were place before. Here

Primavera, tiempo de terrazas y balcones............Spring,a time for balconies and terraces.

It seems that spring is here at last, and it’s here to stay. Sun and warmth are settling in all around Spain. Sleeves get shorter and shoes are lighter. The tables and chairs of restaurant and bars take their place on the pavement, inviting us to sit and relax.

But there’s no place like home, as they say. You don’t need an enormous space to enjoy that special corner where to wave the day goodbye and relax.

For those of you lucky enough to have a terrace or balcony of their own, and for those of you who don’t, here are some of those little open air corners in the middle of the city.

One of my more vivid memories of childhood is playing games and how free we felt playing. We played until the evening in deserted and badly paved streets, stepping in each and every one of the puddles, climbing half fallen walls that would raise the hairs of more than one modern mother or throwing ourselves down the steepest roads on skates or boards wearing no more protection than patched trousers. We pretended to cook with worms, leaves, rocks and any crap we could lay our hands on. To cut a long story short, we were just being children.

What a time!!!

A few days ago I was watching some friends of mine trying to keep their children entertained on a rainy afternoon, and that made me look back in time. I searched in the haberdashery of my head trying to remember what we used to do on a rainy day when playing outside was impossible.

And I FOUND IT!!

We played forts. We would take an old sheet, if possible but if not we would happily take it from our own bed causing serious distress to our mother, and tied it to two chairs et voila! We had our fort, palace, castle, or whatever, ready.
Nowadays it is not necessary to undo a bed to have a fort or a tippy, you can find marvellous plastic ones ready made for use. They lack the charm of the spontaneous hand made ones, but they are nice pieces that will lend the children’s room that adventure air that they will love.
